Minas and Salto del Penitente,
falls and hills

Salto de Penitente (the Penitent's
Waterfall) is located some kilometres away from Minas city, in the department
of Lavalleja. It is a 60 meters fall in the rocky hills.
During our tour to Salto del Penitente we will drive about 20 kilometres
off of Ruta 8 on a good road in order to arrive up to the fall.
The drive is quite scenic and the falls are amazing. We will stop in a
beautiful restaurant which is overlooking the falls, after that we will
take a short trail down to the base. Also we will give you free time to
do horseback riding, rest meanwhile you enjoy this particular fall located
over a rocky background covered by wild vegetation or even dive into the
small lake formed by the water of the Penitente stream. There's a "panoramic"
short-cut returning to the highway with great views on a rougher, but still
passable road. You will spend a very pleasant afternoon.
Salto del Penitente falls tour finishes at the Airport, Hotel or Buquebus
port.
